Eendracht
Unity, accepting a world of difference
With the 400-year anniversary of Dirk Hartog’s landing in Shark Bay just around the corner or should we say just up the coast this year’s Zest Festival promises to be a melting pot of cultures connected to the Dutch VOC trade within the India Ocean Rim. Maritime trading routes and vibrant ports saw many people travel across the globe to discover, prosper and become part of multicultural hotspots brimming with promise.
In 2016, we want to celebrate the youthful energy of young sailors, explorers and women of the era who waited for their loved ones, received the attention of sailors or stepped onto a boat and had the spirit to travel to foreign lands. We will raise a glass to all those who’ve preceded us, recognising their contributions to our Australian society today and the human qualities which opened up new possibilities and connections to the world.
Dirk Hartog’s ship was called the Eendracht which means unity. Come and unite with us as we celebrate our history.
Start the weekend with flair and come to a magical masquerade affair. Our opening night on Friday 16th September will be spell bending.
A Masquerade gathering for the curious. Within the secluded walls of Rainbow Jungle a night of magic unfolds as the exotic birds fall asleep and the night lights turn this exotic pleasure garden into a night time spectacle. Here our comic guides will lure you along the winding pathways to delight in the lights but also to experience the extraordinary performances by an quartet from the Perth Symphony Orchestra and singing by the Giovanni Consort.
Here we will raise a glass of Voyager Estates new wine Eendracht, a sparkling Chenin Blanc created for this celebratory year of Dirk Hartog’s landing in Shark Bay in 1616.
Zest Festival Fundraiser
We’re offering the chance to get your hands on a seriously tasty new sparkling chenin blanc which will help raise funds for this year’s Zest Festival finale.
Leading south-west winery Voyager Estate has produced Eendracht Sparkling Chenin Blanc to celebrate this year’s 400th anniversary of the landing of Dirk Hartog at Shark Bay, aboard the Eendracht. And they are donating money from every bottle sold to support this year’s Zest Festival finale.
